Scope: This course provides basic training in cargo handling and cargo care for deck officers of dry cargo ships of less than 200 gross tonnages. It covers goods in packaged form and dry cargoes in bulk, including dangerous substances, and related cargo-handling gear and equipment. It covers subjects such as loading and discharge, stowage, segregation, ventilation and general safety precautions.
Objective: A trainee who successfully completes this course will be able to safely and effectively use basic cargo handling equipments, properly prepare cargo spaces, proper handling and storing of cargoes during transport ensuring proper ventilation. You will also be able to take all necessary safety precautions when handling dangerous goods and to comply with the national and international regulatory requirements.
